Seeking Truth: Imitating Jesus in Daily Life
This is the first episode of my Seeking Truth series. I was going to head out to the bush to record it, but there was a moose right outside my door, so I recorded it with the moose.
Over the last year or so, as the world goes crazy, I've been looking for guidance, and I've been studying the Bible. I started with Jesus and how he went about his day.
I guarantee he wasn't distracted by doom scrolling, and he didn't wake up every morning angry about politics. He lived at an intense, relentless pace. He prayed relentlessly, often alone out in the wilderness, which is part of why I want to record some of this series outdoors.
He was disciplined, compassionate and humble, and he put others first. He worked hard. He said not to cast pearls before swine, which to me means using discernment and not wasting time on people who aren't ready. He taught us to guard who we spend time with, because bad company corrupts good morals, and not to blindly follow the traditions of man.
What I can do every day
Pray, wherever I am and whatever I'm doing.
Take care of my body: walk, move, stretch.
Work hard. That one's easy to decide on every morning.
Read a verse or two and think on it during the day.
Speak the truth. It brings peace of mind.
Ask one question: would God be pleased with this?
Live my mission every day, and pour myself into it.
In three years he accomplished so much. The more I learn about him, the more he seems like the guy to imitate. These are short episodes, and I'll get better at them as I go.
New episodes drop every Tuesday on the Wild Ways Podcast. Want the story from the trapline every week? The Trapline Report is one email a week from the bush.
