Sometimes what you should do is pray.
One thing when our brains get scattered and wehave 1 million things to do—and even when we’re excited about them. Forexample, now: my new life versus my old life. Lord willing, the future for meis super exciting. Some mornings I want to get up at four in the morning andstart my day. I have 1 million thoughts going through my mind.
Then it occurred to me: when that’s happening, sometimes you just need to pray. Spend the time praying, seeking God’s wisdom.
Sometimes spending that time with God—at leastfor a bit—rather than running around is way more valuable. When we do that, Godprovides some clarity on how the day should go. It could be the most valuable thing you do all day.
God Is Now the CEO of My Business and Life
One thought further on that: God is now the CEOof my business and life.
If you had a chance to talk to the boss everymorning before getting after it, wouldn’t it help set your priorities for theday? Realign your vision and his mission for your life?
It’s something I’ve started doing, and I’ve gotsome great clarity from doing it. I’m not perfect, but by turning to myboss—who is trying to develop me into the best person I can be—for dailydirection has been one of the best things I’ve done.
In this new chapter—out here in the NorthCentral BC bush, away from the old grind—those morning check-ins with Him cutthrough the noise like nothing else. The traplines, the foraging, the building, the stories—they all line up better when I hand the day over first.
If your head’s spinning with a million ideas(good ones or not), try it: Stop. Pray. Seek His wisdom. Let the real Boss setthe course.
It changes everything.
Stay wild, stay faithful. Lyman Miller
